I recently came back to Korea after getting a hair transplant in Turkey, so I wanted to share a quick update.
It’s still very early in the recovery process, so it’s hard to say much about the results yet, but I figured people might be curious, so I’ll mainly share some photos of the current condition.
The surgery was done in Istanbul. In total, about 4,000 grafts were transplanted, which comes out to roughly 8,000 hairs.
During the consultation, they checked my scalp condition and the stage of my hair loss, and the doctor recommended that this amount would be appropriate, so that’s what we went with.
Overall, the process was more organized than I expected.
The clinic handled most of the logistics, including airport pickup,
the hotel, and the surgery schedule, so there weren’t really any major inconveniences.
On the day of the procedure, I went to the clinic in the morning, had a consultation about the hairline design, and then the surgery started shortly after.
I had heard that the anesthesia part is the most painful, and that was pretty much true. The injections for the anesthesia were the hardest part.
After that, it mostly felt like just lying there for a long time. The procedure itself took quite a while, and there were a few short breaks in between.
Since it hasn’t even been a week yet, I’m just posting a few photos of the current condition.

There isn’t much I can really say yet, so I’m mainly uploading the photos since that’s probably what people are most curious about.
My scalp seems to have stabilized a bit, but there’s still some pain left. I’ll take care of it well over the next month and upload another update later.
So far, a quick summary of how it feels:
The swelling went down faster than I expected.
There’s still a bit of redness in the transplanted area.

The donor area on the back of my head feels a little sore when I touch it.
As for the pain that many people ask about, it’s not bad enough to interfere with daily life, but there’s still a kind of dull, heavy feeling that lingers.
From what I’ve been told, the scabs should start falling off in about two weeks, and around the one-month mark there may be some shock loss, so I’ll keep an eye on that process as well.
I think the condition will be clearer after about a month, so I’ll post another update with photos then.
If you have any questions about getting a hair transplant in Turkey, feel free to leave a comment and I’ll answer what I can.
